Thanks to its location less than 1500 miles above the equator, Hawaii experiences wonderful warm weather all year long. This is one of the main reasons why Hawaii is the perfect vacation spot for many tourists from all over the world. Winter and summer months are usually the “high seasons” in Hawaii. During winter, people flee from the cold chilling winter looking for Hawaii’s warmth. During summer, people tend to bring their families for vacation and again Hawaii become one of their favorite destinations. If you want to save some money, you can try to go to Hawaii outside of these 2 seasons. Not only can you save a good deal of money, you will also have better chances to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii without the distractions of too much crowds. Now that we know Hawaii has perfect weather all year long, let’s take a look how this happens. Due to its location at the edge of the tropics, Hawaii essentially only has 2 seasons: warm and warmer. Temperatures usually range between 75 to 85 Fahrenheit degrees. August and September are generally the warmest months, while January and February are the coolest months. Thanks to the trade winds, the cooling breeze really helps in the warmer seasons. On each of the islands, the western and southern shores tend to be hot and dry. If you enjoy sun-bathing and desert like weather, this is the place you want to be in. On the opposite side, the eastern and northern shores usually is cooler and wetter. This is why usually huge lush jungles are located on the eastern and northern shores of the Hawaiian islands. The unique thing about Hawaii weather is something called micro climates. Basically it is a highly localized weather patterns based on a region’s position and topography. An interesting example is Hilo that is located on the Big Island. It gets around 175 inches of rainfall every year, while Puako that is located only 60 miles away, gets only 6 inches of rainfall per year. So if you are being disturbed by rainfall, just drive somewhere else close by, and by luck, you should get your sunshine. You can find a mountain on every Hawaiian islands. Logic speaks, the higher you go, the cooler it gets. This is why if you travel inland and upward, the weather can suddenly change from summer to almost winter like in a short while. One good example would be Haleakala National Park, which is almost 10000 feet above sea level in only 37 miles. Temperature here can be vastly different from the sea level, naturally. Hawaii gets the most rainfall usually during the months of October to March. But you can hardly call it rainy season, because it averages only around 2-3 inches of rainfall during these months. The sky can get a bit darker during this season, but fortunately it won’t last long usually. The sun will always try shine over you while you are in Hawaii. This is why Hawaii is the perfect holiday destination for everybody around the world.
